My neighbour, Sangeetha is pregnant with her second child. She has nausea and vomiting.She sleeps for long and rarely sits on her bed too, all the while just sleeping.Due to this, consuming food was her last option.
She was 18 when she was carrying her first child.A weak and underdeveloped body of her's doctor had to administer so much medicines to save the child. God's grace she had a beautifull, healthy girl child, Ananya.
This time without eating needed food , doc has said she will have to abort the child if sangi remains unhealthy. We tried our level best to make her realise the importance of nutritious food for a growing baby in her womb.She is adamant on the fact that doc didn't prescribe medicines ,she is useless. She says the doc has to give injection , prescribe medicines for the baby ,nothing to do with food. She is questioning how did she carry on with her first pregnancy in India. We have lsot all hopes to make her come to her senses.
I used to read about the Asha workers going about teaching the pregnant ladies at villages, the importance of the nutritions.I never thought that was a big job ,now am realising the value of the last grade of Medical field's cumbersome efforts behind every healthy pregnancy in India.
